Brown Babies exhibition on tour

The Brown Babies exhibition tells the story of Black GIs in Britain during the war from the perspective of the white women and Black GI's and the children who were born as a result of these relationships.

The exhibition has been doing a national tour. The organisations delivering the touring exhibition are Somerset African Caribbean Network (SACN) and Black Education Somerset (BES).

The exhibition is curated by Professor Lucy Bland from her book Britain's 'Brown Babies'. The book tells the moving personal stories of how the stigma of illegitimacy coupled with racism shaped the experiences of children born to white British women and African-American GI's during and in the aftermath of World War ll.
