Curriculum Planning
Bespoke training for staff in schools to explore how global learning themes, such as social justice and equity, diversity and identity, globalisation and interdependence, and environmental sustainability, can enrich your teaching and curriculum. Resources, books, artefacts and instruments can be browsed and borrowed to inspire and engage pupils.
Our aim is to help and to support teachers in enriching your subjects, and your whole school development with themed weeks - such as Global Focus Weeks, Arts Weeks and Children’s Rights’ Weeks. We can deliver the training as a twilight, staff meeting, or half day inset at times to suit you.
We support schools in identifying opportunities in your curriculum for global learning. We loan resource collections such as Home Corner boxes, Musical Instruments and West African Artifacts to ensure pupils have the chance to explore the wider world in a hands-on way. We share ideas for helping develop values such as empathy, and skills such as critical thinking, to ensure our young people grow up as informed, responsible, and active global citizens.
“A fantastic curriculum inset session held by DEED at our school. This session enabled us to see how we could tweak our new curriculum planning for September to make sure that we embed the global learning aspects and also ask the children some thought provoking ‘BIG’ questions. The staff went away buzzing!”
— Headteacher, Wimborne First School
“We are still talking about it and the TAs have been filled in as they heard us talking at lunchtime! You gave us plenty to think about and reflect on what and how we teach about other cultures and countries, brilliant.”
— Teacher, Milborne St Andrew First School
