DEED offers Family and Children’s Workshops up to KS1 based on Globally Inspired Crafts. These can be tailored to a specific country or technique.
Workshops are usually based on a country or location, or a theme:
Ghana
- Adinkra Printing
- Kente Cloth Weaving
- Recycled bead making
- Tic Tac drum
- Shaker making
Australia
- Australian Aboriginal Artwork, based round the story of Tiddalick the frog
- Group artwork on a cloth that you can display
- Individual decoration on a hanging mobile
- Decorate a didgeridoo (paper version)
India
- Block printing
- Making a small Krishna type drum from recycled materials
- Mask Making - Animals of India
- Using ‘the Elephant Dance’ and ‘the Animal Boogie’
The theme of Identity or Myself
- Using the ‘I Love My Hair' box
- Make self-portraits using either paint, drawing, collage or chalks. Particularly good for family workshops.
Make a Shaker
Using our musical shakers from around the world for ideas, make a shaker using recycled objects. Particularly good for Early Years or Reception Class with parents. We do the Shake Shake song at the end.
