Sustainable Issues
DEED offers schools support along the journey towards the requirement to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) by 2020.
Our training and workshops provide schools with the opportunity to explore the complex environmental issues currently facing us and future generations.
DEED resources and activities help pupils and teachers to think globally yet act locally.
Our training programme includes

Introduction to the 7 key concepts of ESD and how to use them when planning

Information and strategies for the classroom to tackle topical issues such as Climate Change, Food and where it comes from, Waste & Recycling and Water

Activities and resources to show the interconnections between these issues and children’s rights and responsibilities in the classroom and across the whole school

Exploration of the environmental impact of a range of consumer products such as a South African apple or a car tyre from its beginning to the end of its useful life. This can include Energy Use, Transport, Packaging, Air Miles and Sustainability

Opportunities to browse the Reduce, Re-use, Recycle display and to use the Recycled Collection
