Early Years
DEED offers Early Years practitioners a flexible, negotiable programme of support and training
to meet all aspects of the Early Years and Foundation Stage requirement to promote
inclusive practice and positive relationships within settings.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - This training includes
- Resources and hands-on activities that promote early learning on self-esteem, cultural identity and diversity
- How language can be used to convey positive images of diversity
- Practical activities to embed the global dimension across the EYFS curriculum through themes such as Myself, Food, Homes, Music and Transport
Globally Inspired Crafts - This training includes
- Resources, stories and craft activities to promote positive images of ourselves and other people and places
- Opportunities to learn new skills and techniques in Design & Technology such as Block Printing, Adinkra, Recycled Bead making, Kente Cloth Weaving and Musical Instrument making using resource examples from around the world
- Support with curriculum ideas, themes and resources for planning a Global Arts project
As a result of attending either Equality, Diversity and Inclusion or Globally Inspired Crafts training you will have access to
- DEED’s hands-on artefact collections for Global Home Corners, Early Years World Music , Recycled Toys, Puppets from around the World and I Love My Hair - a collection of art materials, stories and books to create portraits
- Books, CDs, DVDs and artefacts to borrow or buy
- Information about local world musicians and artists as well as useful community contacts
- Discounted copies of DEED’s own Early Years manual To Begin at the Beginning: Bringing a Global Dimension to the Early Years
