Sankofa Exhibition
Sankofa is a sizeable and stunning exhibition of traditional arts and crafts from Ghana, West Africa that the whole community can enjoy. It includes textiles, books, carvings, musical instruments, pottery and basketware. These are supplemented by information and picture panels about the country and some of the artisans who made the artefacts in the exhibition. All the items have a story and can be handled by children and adults.
Sankofa has 10 panels with hanging cloths between and fills a large classroom space or a small hall. It acts as a wonderful stimulus for work exploring global themes across the curriulum and can support a community cohesion event in your area.
Loan fee: £400 plus mileage for up to 2 weeks hire. This includes:
- Delivery and set up
- Twilight Inset in school or a staff information session on the set up day
- selection of books to borrow if required.
You will need to provide at least one person, staff or volunteer, help set up. They will then be able to oversee the taking down and packing prior to collection by DEED on the arranged pickup day.

DEED can also offer optional related workshops for adults and children on Ghana,
Kente weaving and the symbolic language of Adinkra printing.
