Jigsaw and the GLP

Jigsaw and the Global Learning Programme: how to map existing lesson plans and initiatives in school is a twilight inset that aims to familiarise teachers with the 3 interlinking strands of the GLP; themes, skills and values and to model a PSHE (Jigsaw) lesson to show teachers how existing schemes of work can fit the GLP strands.

Teaching about Development: Charity or Justice?

This half-day course aims to empower and support teachers to address development and globalisation issues in their classroom teaching and across the whole school.  To provide the space for teachers to explore the role of charity giving in school and it’s links to social justice, the UNCRC and Children’s Rights.

 

The course is available on Tuesday 24 June at West Moors Middle School, Ferndown.

 

The course is approved by The Global Learning Programme so GLP registered schools can use e-credits.

This very popular and successful project has now come to an end.

 

We offered workshops for KS1 and KS2 pupils, children and their families to explore food from around the world.  Tasting, cooking and investigation into where food comes from, what it tastes like, who grows it, what makes us healthy, children around the world, healthy and affordable eating, culture, and creative cooking are all included in these hands-on workshops.  Yamini Flyer 2013

Galimoto Workshop for Children and Parents CompressedWe offer a range of children and family workshops designed to suit younger children in Early Years settings and Children’s Centres.  These can be delivered at times to suit and are designed to enrich the EYFS through global storytelling, world music, global craft techniques and self portrait work to explore diversity, respect, creativity and have fun. Distant Localities

Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

GLP_Approved Training_RGBThis half-day course will investigate The United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which are a set of 8 international targets to reduce global poverty by 2015 and provide you with classroom resources and contacts with International development agencies.  It will enable you to find out how the MDGs relate to Children’s Rights, explore classroom activities, investigate the work of International Development Agencies and share good practice with other schools.

Fairtrade Advocacy

Fairtrade AdvocacyDEED staff can offer you up to 2 hours of their time to:

  • Attend staff meetings to help you promote, plan and resources Fairtrade activities and lessons
  • Meet individual teachers to help them with the application and submission of evidence for the Fair Trade School Award (FTSA)
  • Run a curriculum planning session for all teachers to help them embed Fair Trade and Global Citizenship in the curriculum looking at resources and websites.
  • Help plan successful Fairtrade Fortnight activities for the whole school
